Dembski on nössö

ID-liikkeen johtohahmo William Dembski erehtyi mainostamaan ID-tutkimusta:

New Peer-Reviewed Pro-ID Article in Mainstream Math/Eng Literature

Jumaleissön! Oikein peer-reviewin kestänyt Pro-ID paperi on päässyt läpi darwinistien myrkytetyistä paperisilppureista? Miten näin pääsi käymään?

Paperi (pdf) on Dembskin ja Robert J. Marksin yhteistyötä. Paperin nimi on Conservation of Information in Search: Measuring the Cost of Success.

Active information must be accurate. The asymptotic
equipartition property will work only if the target sought obeys
the assigned FOO. As L increases, the match between the target
and FOO table must become closer and closer. The boundaries
of ω quickly harden, and any deviation of the target from the
FOO will prohibit in finding the target. An extreme example
is the curious novel Gadsby [48] which contains no letter E.
Imposing a 10% FOO for an E for even a short passage in
Gadsby will nosedive the probability of success to near zero.
Negative active information can be fatal to a search.

Kritisoi sitä sitte, niin...

Paperissa kritisoidaan Richard Dawkinsin Me-Thinks-It-Is-Like-A-Weasel ohjelmaa.

In critiquing his example and arguing that information is not created by unguided evolutionary processes, we are indeed making an argument that supports ID.

Uncommon Descent-blogiin ilmestyi heti pari kriittistä kommenttia. Niissä huomautetaan, ettei Dembski ole oikein hoksannut miten Dawkinsin Me-Thinks-It-Is-Like-A-Weasel
ohjelma oikeasti toimii. Seuraa lyhyt dialogi. Jolle pannaan stoppi näin:

I’m growing weary of these quibblings and thus shutting the comments off.

Kuka haluaa estää ID-tieteestä keskustelun? Itse William Dembski.

Toinen uutinen liittyy Michael Beheen. Hän on liittynyt Uncommon Descentin kirjoittajiin. En ole täysin varma siitä onko tämä hyvä vai huono käänne ID-liikkeen historiassa.

Joe Felsenstein vaivautui lukemaan Dembskin & Marskin paperin. Se ei tehnyt häneen vaikutusta. Felsensteinin käyntikortti tekee selväksi, että hän jos kuka on pätevä arvioimaan paperia.
